Behavioral Intervention Training

Training Group
Established in 1995, the behavioral intervention training program at the Denver PTC serves prevention providers in public, private, and community sectors who are responsible for the implementation or supervision of STD/HIV prevention programs in community and clinic-based settings. We provide training in the use of evidence-based STD/HIV prevention interventions at the individual, group, and community level. Training is also provided in areas of program support needed to implement and maintain such interventions. These courses teach skills and strategies to influence changes in behaviors that place persons at risk for STD or HIV infection. The Denver PTC provides training on several evidence-based behavioral interventions from CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) Project, as well as courses that seek to develop skills to support their successful implementation.

Our courses are intended for a wide range of people engaged in the field of HIV/STD prevention, including health educators, outreach workers, counselors, health department staff, and community planning group members. We conduct our trainings in a balanced learning environment that includes a theoretical framework and experiential activities.
