DEBI

The Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project was designed to bring science-based individual, group, and community-level HIV prevention interventions to community-based service providers and state and local health departments. The goal is to enhance the capacity to implement effective interventions at the state and local levels, to reduce the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and to promote healthy behaviors.

The Denver STD/HIV Prevention Training Center and its regional partners are the exclusive training providers for many of these interventions.

The materials in these evidence-based intervention packages are designed for HIV/AIDS prevention with person at risk for acquiring or transmitting HIV. They are meant to be resources used by HIV prevention providers such as health departments and community-based organizations so as to provide the best evidence-based HIV prevention services. They are meant to be used by trained HIV prevention providers and trainers. The entire intervention contents should be used in delivering these interventions and no part of any intervention should be used in isolation of the rest of the intervention materials. For example, videos should be used specifically as specified in the intervention implementation materials and should not be shown in isolation. These materials are not meant for the general public. These materials are not meant for children. These materials are not school-based HIV prevention strategies. They are designed to help change the behaviors of persons whose behaviors place them at risk for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
